Wish You Were Here... FRIDAY

The aftermath has piled up as the events of the past weekend at the Los Angeles Colesium cast a shadow over the World.  If you weren't there for some odd reason, I truly hope it was a very odd reason indeed.  We wanted to share some of the highlights just to re-live the experience once again or show some of you non-believers what fun is all about.

Friday was captured by a few artists and was nothing short of spectacular.  We rolled up to the Los Angeles Colesium that was heavily guarded, but under complete control.  The ticket lines were not long, the beer lines were which is odd, and there was only one outburst by the douchebag fence jumpers to which Lil Jon handled in about 2 minutes with some strong yelling instead of the hippie P.L.U.R. jargon.  We came across Autoerotique throwing down a signature Electro set in the beginning of the day at the Cosmic Meadows.  He powered down a great set just in time for us to head on over to see some of Afrojack handling the best set I have seen in a while with a special guest shout out from Lil Jon.

Tune up your collection:
Polkadots (Original Mix).mp3
AutoErotique - Gladiator (Steve Aoki.mp3 - Oldie but a Goodie

Next we headed on over to the Circuit Grounds which hosted a 7 story stage that Chuckie was spinning some ridiculous tunes from the songs of the summer Babylon and Hope.  He spun a two hour set worthy of a headline position which I'm sure will be in the near future.

Bonus:
I Like It (Chuckie Remix).mp3

Dirty South left his normal Progressive House style set to amaze the audiences with some Filthy Electro House in the begining, and finishing with his typical tunes towards the end.  Definitely different and much appreciated.  All that did not know the name of Dirty South are now googling and wondering if he is from America.  Well he is from the Dirty South of Austrailia.

Traktors:

After watching Dirty South and not wanting to leave them we decided to part ways with Kaskade and check out Jack Beats which in my experience if you want to see Bass Heavy; look no further.  God these guys are pros at targeting the audience and putting a bullet straight through their heart.

We hung around the Cosmic Meadows after Jack showed us how the Jack Beats Rock, and checked out a very special DJ AM tribute between Travis Barker and A-Trak. This was packed with a special guest performance again by Lil Jon who seemed to be everywhere that weekend and was just an excellent set to appreciate.

You want it... You got it...

Then came the long awaited Household Names of House... Angello, Axwell, Ingrosso.  This was the ONE and only SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA

If you didn't have the patience to stay in the Circuit Grounds you truly missed out on a once in a lifetime appearance.  From rolling in One More Time into One, to murdering the Colesium.  These three individuals held it down and should have been the headlining act.  Swedish House rocked the set.

Last but not least:
Gangsta (Original Mix).mp3
Show_One_Love (Hardwell Did It Again Remix).mp3

We were somewhat disappointed with the Deadmau5 set, and I don't know what the plan was.  The new Deadmau5 stage was magnificent, but to use it against the 7 story backdrop with no integration was a bold move, and I thought somewhat lack luster.  We still have lots of love for Deadmau5, this was just not expected; especially after the way the music was being put down all day.

With some remaining time we scooted on over to the see Armand Van Helden just commit a sacrifice on the crowd while he was there.  The last half hour with Van Helden was an immediate thumbs up and great decision.

!! MALENTE !!

MALENTE! Hailing from Germany is a nightlife name that you can trust. Just check the playlists of folks like Fake Blood, Crookers, Steve Aoki, and Tiga. Or the remix discographies of Armand Van Helden, Bob Sinclair, Dada Life and more.  Point is, if there’s a dancefloor fire getting started somewhere - anywhere! - a Malente tune has probably had something to do with it.  2009 Malente released his first 12" "Bring That Lead Back" on SOUTHERN FRIED (Fatboy Slim's Label). The follow up „Music Forever“ (April 09) which fuses chicago house with rave and raw electro is pole positioning the German Club Charts DCC for 7 weeks in a row. DJ support by Etienne De Crecy, Lee Mortimer, Kissy Sellout, Midfield General, Groove ArmadaDave Spoon, Shinichi Osawa, Peter Kruder, Jason Nevins, Erick Morillo, Axwell.

New Boys Noize. Finally.

It's been over 6 months since any of us Southern California folks have seen or even heard anything new from Alexander Ridha aka Boys Noize. We are all very over due. No need to worry though because his new remix of N.E.R.D.'s Hot-N-Fun ft. Nelly Furtado is available below. Oh wait, he'll also be melting faces live at EDC in less than a week. If you don't have your tickets by this point, I'd say now would be a very good time to buy them. This weekend is going to be pure filth. Until then, enjoy...

Nothing Short of Napoleon

Audrey Napoleon "is spontaneous, eclectic, dynamic, eccentric, and aggressive.  She is exactly like the music she plays and produces.  Her personal style ranges from Tech-house, Techno, and Minimal.  She can either be hard or soft.  She is a DJ who takes the dance floor by the balls and grips it until the crowd begs for submission.  Audrey expresses her being through music, energy, passion, and style.  She acts to make people react, she reacts making everyone love her.  Audrey is not an artist, she's the art itself."

This rising star has captured the attention of many with her weekly events at Avalon to the shows she is performing in around the World.  From her debut remix release on Beatport"Cannot Find", to Breaking the House down everywhere she goes.  Keep an eye out for this up-and-comer.

Loosing My Religion

No, this post has nothing to do with R.E.M., but more importantly a pair of Los Angles based artists who go by the name Religion. Below are two super dope remixes of Erol Alkan's new track "Avalanche" and an older classic by Crookers "We Love Animals". More Tracks from Religion here.

Double Dose of Electro and Houwwse

This Friday night get ready for a fun-filled adventure at the Avalon.  Starkillers is best known for his signature blend of catchy vocals, booming bass lines and genre-defying range. From New York to Japan, Starkillers has had a massive impact on the world of electronic music. The Las Vegas native is best known as the man behind the MASSIVE hits Discoteka & Scream. Discoteka was the very first track released under his Starkillers alias and lived at the top of the Billboard Dance and Beatport sales charts, named an "Essential Selection" on Pete Tong’s BBC1 radio show, nominated for best underground track at the IDMAs, and supported by almost every major DJ out there. But the track’s success simply encouraged the hard working producer to get his ass back into the studio and create a world of music his friends and fans have come to recognize him for.Get ready for him to lay down an unforgettable set Friday night.

Get some Starkillers sample tracks right here:

Bingo Players (Paul Bäumer & Maarten Hoogstraten) have been left gasping for air after a seriously hectic year with bookings in the Netherlands and abroad. Outgrowing local bingo halls to play with the big ballers of the game has been the result of their hard work and devotion. The Bingo Players appear to have been made for each other, the proof of which came in November 2009, when the DJ/producer duo topped the Beatport overall chart for a second time with their remake of the dance floor classic, “Devotion”, which stayed on no. 1 for two weeks and over a month in the top 10!

Get your Bingo on below:

If you would like to get on the reduced price guestlist please email our friends at GottaDanceDirty.com the list will be good for the night until they run out of reduced admission tickets.

Aka John Roman

From the tracks that have been being produced; some credit is needed from one of the most highly underrated, and anticipated artists of the year.  Hailing from Toronto, BC John Roman is going to be the next artist on all of your go see lists! Check out this excerpt...

"After massive blog exposure, multiple number 1 tracks on Hype Machine, record label interest and international gig offers, Roman went into reclusion. While his music continued to spread and build popularity, the Toronto-based artist had seemingly disappeared. Hints of his whereabouts were whispered in the dance community – November, Brodinski’s chart features a track called “Save Us” (John Roman Nigerian Dub) by Nadastrom; December, ElectroTO’s “Producing for Presents” EP features an unreleased original John Roman track “Sing!” which is pulled from the site after a week; January, a mysterious remix of Proxy’s “8000” starts appearing in virtually all of Congorock’s sets; February, rumors begin about a mixtape of unreleased John Roman tracks called “Reclusion”; March, Roman’s remix of Smalltown Romeo’s “Boom Ha” appears on Plant Music’s Scion A/V sampler; April, NT89 charts “Coma” by John Roman in his Resident Advisor Chart; May, Discobelle Records release “Save Us” (John Roman Nigerian Dub) in Neoteric’s Turned On Vol. 1 compilation; June, the rumors are confirmed – “Reclusion” arrives."

Look for him soon; hopefully, in a town near you.
